![]() As part of the Conference’s acknowledgment of this event, Dr. Jeffrey Brown, president of the Bermuda Conference invited General Conference President, Dr. Jan Paulsen to be the opening keynote speaker for the yearly camp meeting services. During one of his weekend sermons, Dr. Paulsen spoke about God recognizing us as His ambassadors. He compared the Christians life to that of an official sent to represent an overseas country. An ambassador functions away from home. The honor of the country is in the ambassador’s hand. He must commend his country. The first function of an ambassador is to present his credentials. So too, the Christian is an ambassador. He is on earth to represent God and the heavenly kingdom. He must be ever cognizant this world is not our home; the honor of the heavenly country is in the Christian’s hand and as such the man or woman who is not willing to be different is really not a representative of Christ. Dr. Paulsen’s message was one that had its foundation in reconciliation ministry. He based his message on 2 Corinthians 5:17-19 and emphasized that we must be involved in the ministry of reconciliation. Dr. Paulsen’s presentation highlighted the following: · The ministry of reconciliation to which we have been called is ordained of God. · That time is running out. We need to recognize that we may be much closer [to the 2nd coming of Jesus] · We are not [to be] inward-focused. Our mission is outward. · God's solution to the sin problem has been given to us. · God does not expect that we should copy each other. · God has called us and given us spiritual gifts.
Dr. Paulsen reminded the hundreds in attendance that Jesus, our Advocate, has given us an assurance that He is coming again to claim us for His own. We should hold on to His precious promises, and put on the whole armor for such a time as this.[View Photos by Ricardo Clarke ] Comments (0)
